Power supply to various areas in Dimapur has been affected after sub-station at Burma camp was badly damaged by storm Saturday evening.
The storm that blew off CGI sheets from a temporary conference hall fell on top of the transformer causing short circuit and damaging it. Standby transformer that was kept for emergency purposes was also damaged. According to employees at the station, parts of the transformers’ bushing were damaged, which would need total replacement.
When queried about the constant load shedding in Dimapur town, one of the employees said that it was due to shortage of power supply from NEEPCO.
Meanwhile, Dimapur electrical division executive engineer Moameren has also said that the storm on April 18 badly damaged Burma camp sub-station affecting 10 Mva, 66/11 Kv transformer and also 33 kv and 11 kv bay. The affected feeders included veterinary and tourist lodge, civil hospital, Nagarjan, Purana Bazaar, Airport.
Executive engineer said heavy load shedding would be imposed in the above mentioned feeders till the affected transformer was restored and put into the circuit. The EE has requested consumers to bear the inconvenience as the department was trying its best to restore normal power supply.
