A 100 KW Micro Hydro Project was commissioned at Choklangan village on Mayemong River under Tuensang district by the state department of new and renewable energy (NRE) on May 21. Speaking at the commissioning programme, NRE director T.S Angami, who inaugurated the project, encouraged the villagers to fully utilize the facility for economic development of the area, which borders with Myanmar and was virtually isolated from the rest.
The project was completed within one year and is a standalone type, targeted to cater power supply to the last two villages on the Indian side, Choklangan and Wui villages under Noklak sub-division.
