Blood donors’ day in Wka, Kiphire

World Blood Donors’ Day was observed on June 14 at district hospital Wokha, organised by district AIDS prevention and control unit (DAPCU) in collaboration with blood bank Wokha, district hospital and CMO office supported by the Nagaland state blood transfusion council.
Speaking on the theme “thank you for saving my life”, medical superintendent Dr. W. N. Ezung encouraged the gathering to be the role model for blood donation as it was the greatest gift to the society. Power point presentation on facts of blood donation was presented by Dr. Emmanuel Yanthan. He explained  the procedures for blood donation, blood screening, eligibility, misconception, dos and don’ts. The programme was attended by chief medical officer (CMO) Dr. Enrithung, deputy CMO Dr. Tumchobeni, DTO Dr. Benchilo, NRHM staff and host of youths. DAPCU district project officer (DPO) Lichumo Odyuo chaired the programme and vote of thanks was proposed by M&E DAPCU, Mhao Tungoe. 
KIPHIRE: District AIDS prevention and control unit (DAPCU) Kiphire in collaboration with district hospital Kiphire observed “World Blood Donor Day” on June 14 at District Hospital Kiphire with Dr. H. Tsupongchum Sangtam as the resource person and ADC (SSA) Sethricho as guest speaker. The resource person said blood was the life giving fluid and was the greatest gift of God that no artificially fluid could replace.  Also, speaking on the occasion, guest speaker Sethricho encouraged the department and NGOs to organize more awareness and sensitization programme in schools, colleges, churches and in some important public gatherings.
At the programme, special song was presented by nurses of the hospital and an honouring certificate to the donors was given by Xavier Sangtam.
