Sumi Hoho along with the other Sumi frontal organisations have turned down the invite from NSCN (I-M) to the latter’s August 25 “Consultation on the Indo-Naga Peace Accord” in Dimapur.
Sumi Hoho secretary Vihuto Asumi in a press release informed, that based on the on the January 7, 2014 resolution no. 2, the Sumi public decided to abrogate their relationship with NSCN (I-M) following the December 21, 2013 Aghuito incident.
Asumi disclosed, that on August 10, 2015, a meeting was held between Sumi frontal organizations and NSCN (I-M) led by its kilo kilonser, RH Raising at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur to resolve the issue. However, the meeting was inconclusive, Sumi Hoho stated. Asumi maintained that till such time the issue was resolved between the two sides, “Sumi Hoho and its frontal organizations shall not participate in any meetings or programmes organized by the NSCN (I-M).” In the light of the above, “The Sumi Hoho and its frontal organizations shall not participate in the Naga consultative meeting organized by NSCN (I-M) on August 25”, it said.
Talking to Nagaland Post, when asked about the peace accord, Vihuto Asumi said that the Sumi Hoho and other Sumi frontal organisations were neither in favour nor against the Accord.
“Until such time the content of the Peace Accord is made known to the public, the Hoho will not be in a position to comment any further,” Asumi added.
It may be recalled, that the Sumi Baghi Hoho (General Public Meeting) at its meeting on January 7, 2014 resolved that “the relationship between the Sumis and the NSCN (I-M) is hereby declared as abrogated and no taxation in any form shall be paid to NSCN-IM.”
The resolution, among others, was adopted in the aftermath of the three-day siege by Sumi volunteers on the NSCN (I-M) designated camp at Mukalimi Village from December 28, 2013. The siege took its toll when Sumi volunteers lost their lives.
