GPRN/NSCN has condemned raids carried out by 32 Assam Rifles (AR) at the residences of its functionaries.
GRN/NSCN MIP said that on August 25, at 3 a.m., 32 AR troops raided the residence of its deputy secretary, Tokato Achumi till 4 a.m. It alleged that during the raid, AR troops harassed the father of Tokato by toppling everything in his room, leaving his siblings sleepless and tortured mentally.
The troops found nothing to prove Tokato involved in any crime, it added. MIP said it only resulted in mental and emotional harassment to him and the family.
Later, on August 27, MIP said the same troops raided the residence of ‘col.’ Kiyehe Yeptho, who was out of station for medical treatment. Despite the wife’s plea that her husband was not at home, MIP said that the AR harassed her and the young kids. There also the troops found nothing, they left the wife and young children scared, helpless and insecure, MIP said.
Though the reason behind such raids was not yet known, MIP said it has only put doubts as to why the frequent frisking and taking away of their members had been taking place without proof and evidences.
MIP said such raids have only caused mental and physical harassment to the family members, which cannot be left ignored.
MIP said that such rampant raids on national workers’ residences be stopped and that the cease-fire ground rules be thoroughly studied and implemented by all parties to avoid any untold mishaps that may happen during the ignorant raids.
