Team of Pochury Gazetted Officers Forum (PGOF) led by forest ranger Siechutho Katiry and eight others undertook an expedition to Mt. Mol Len Peak located under Meluri sub-division in Phek district. The team managed to scale the summit on October 21.
The aim of the expedition was to bring into focus the Mollen peak, which is otherwise not known by people due to its geographical remoteness. The team started its expedition on October 19 from Meluri town, with villagers of New Thewati as volunteers through the dense forest and vegetation.
The height (elevation) of the peak was measured using GPS device and recorded a height of 3066 metres above sea level located at N 25.29’38.9’’, E 094.45’05.3’’.
This data indicates that Mol Len peak is 18 metres higher than Japfü Peak which has a height of 3048 metres.
