
Minister school education, Yitachu reiterated, that education should help people to be transformed and empowered in taking corrective measures so as to help society progress.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the concert of ‘Fund Raising For Education of Naga Children’ organized by Kohima Education Society at RCEMPA Jotsoma, Wednesday.
Pointing to the current literacy rate of Nagaland that stood at 80.11 percent, Yitachu also lamented on the contradiction between high literacy rate and the ground reality, which he said, was not up to the mark.
He also urged upon the society to work for Nagas and not for any particular tribe.
Yitachu congratulated KES for undertaking the fund raising drive and expressed the hope that music would help in building social relationship. He also read out a message by Chief Minster, TR Zeliang.
Speaking as the guest of honour, Parliamentary secretary youth resource and sports, MusicTask Force (MTF), state lottery, Khriehu Liezietsu lauded Nagas for being talented in music and second to none, despite lack of proper music infrastructure in the state.
He informed that MTF, under youth resources was focussed on promoting music through musical events in and outside the state which were successful.
Underling some future initiative by MTF, Khriehu informed that MoU has been signed with True School of Music Mumbai, namely “Music Brainer” which was in the pipeline to impart master classes on subject such as music and business.
He said that another MoU would be signed between MTF, Hard Rock Café and Rolling Stones India, to provide platform to local bands to perform at Hardrock Cafes across the country.
He also informed that form next year, Hornbill on tour would visit eight cities across the country and making it a year-long programme.
Khriehu offered all possible help to musicians in the state and assured that MTF would continue to provide possible opportunities for Naga musicians.
He congratulated KES and Lily Das for coming up with an innovative idea for welfare of Naga children.
