More condemn NPG’s threat on women officer

Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem (KLST) has strongly condemned the threatening on a woman officer commissioner and secretary Vety & AH, LH Thangi Mannen by a group of four persons, including an armed man, who are believed to be members of a particular NPG on November 18.
In a release, KLST president S. T. Wapang and general secretary M. Wapang Jamir said that the action and motive of the intruders are not acceptable to Naga society where women and children are respected and protected in all situations.
The union described it “even more horrifying and perplexing” as it was allegedly for a normal duty performed (transfer and posting of the officers of the department) as an administrative head of the department”.
KLST further said it cannot “fathom” why a respected officer, a mother and a lady officer could be so disrespectfully abused, threatened and harassed for performing a bona fide official duty with the approval of higher authority and in coordination with the department.
It therefore, demanded unconditional and personal apology from the gunman and appropriate action of the concerned authority on the responsible person(s) and appealed to the law enforcing agency to book the culprit and initiate appropriate action against them as per the law of the land.
NVA condems: Nagaland Veterinarian’s Association (NVA) has vehemently condemned the act of threat and intimidation upon commissioner and secretary of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Thangi Manen by some armed personnel on November 18 at her official residence.
In a press note, NVA general secretary said it was a clear violation of law and that no individual or group has the right to threaten and interfere in official matter of the department.
KAT condemns: Kohima Aor Telongjem (KAT) has expressed outrage at the “abhorrent act” committed upon commissioner and secretary of V&AH LH Thangi Manen, who is also a bonafide member of Ao community.
The union stated that the abuses and threats to an individual on the basis of tribalism devoid of maturity in a cultured and civilized society.
In a press statement, KAT general secretary Sentimenbang Jamir said the crime committed as claimed by the perpetrator(s) was that, an official in the department was transferred on promotion to Phek in general reshuffle which was normal routine work of the department and collective decision of the government. However, for such decision of the government to single out and to humiliate the innocent individual in such manner by taking the name of national worker was simply unimaginable and deserves condemnation by all, it added.
KAT urged the competent authority to take stern action against such anti-social elements.
