One-day career guidance seminar for students was conducted at Sazolie College, Jotsoma on December 5, with assistant professor Robin Temsü, director Life Sports/ Ministries Colo Mero, development officer LIC, Kohima Nenchulo Woch and freelance trainer and researcher Nezelü Nyekha as resource persons.
In the first session, Robin Temsü spoke on “Importance of Career Planning”. He urged the students to carefully plan their careers and set certain goals in their lives as it would give them purposeful to work hard and strive for success. He said one cannot succeed without planning one’s career.
Nezelü Nyekha, who is also the alumnus spoke on “Prospects and importance of pursuing higher studies”. She highlighted the guidelines and dos and don’ts to follow and while applying for admission in universities after their graduation.
Colo Mero, who also spoke on topic “Entrepreneurship: Being Your Own Boss” lamented that many students remained unemployed and dependent on their parents even after graduation. He said education and occupation should go hand in hand and added that truly educated people cannot be unemployed.
He advised that students not to depend only on government jobs since there were many other opportunities in life. Briefing the perks and advantages of running one’s own business, Mero said one can enjoy being one’s own boss. However, he said it come with lot of responsibilities as it requires lot of hard work and discipline. He further urged the students to be honest and truthful in whatever ventures they undertake.
Nechulo Woch spoke on “Earning while learning” and stressed on the importance of hard work to achieve success.
After brainstorming sessions, discussion and interactive session was also conducted. The programme was chaired by assistant professor Aphrenuo Mozhui.
