Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha member Neiphiu Rio on December 18 reviewed the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) scheme in Nagaland during a meeting held in Niathu Resort in Dimapur.
PMKVY is a unique initiative by the Government of India that aims to offer 24 lakh Indian youth meaningful, industry relevant, skill based training. Under this scheme, the trainees would be offered a financial reward and a government certification on successful completion of training and assessment, which will help them in securing a job.
MP, who is the chairman of the scheme in Nagaland parliamentary constituency, encouraged the training providers to put collective effort so Naga youths get benefit out of the scheme. Further, Rio asked them to focus on districts like Mon and Tuensang where skill development was much needed.
Lamenting that youth today did not compromise with their comfort level, he said they should adjust with the world in order to survive.
The meeting was attended by deputy director, MSME Dimapur branch Tali Longchar, district employment officer Savia Visa, officials of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship and training providers Pinnacle Skills, NIIT, Youth Net and IACT Education Pvt Ltd. The Pinnacle Skills chief executive Dr. Yan Murry had convened the meeting.
The central government allotted Rs.1500 crore for PMKVY scheme, out of which Rs.150 crore is reserved for North East.
