Mongsenyimti Baptist Church celebrates centenary

Mongsenyimti Baptist Church two days centenary celebration begun on December 19 with ABAM executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, founder director, new women ministry, Shillong Atola Subong and Ao Baptist Church, Darogapathar, Pastor Rev. Lanuyanger as key speakers.
In the celebration, speaking on the topic “Christ, the true light of all ages”, Atola Subong said that Jesus died and rose again to give “true light” to mankind.
She said the centenary celebration should be the time for each and everyone to introspect and emulate the true essence of the light, learn to forgive other and love each other through Christ.
The speaker also urged the congregation to rededicate their lives to the living God.
Earlier, parliamentary secretary for Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, S Chuba Longkumer encouraged all to celebrate the centenary “in spirit and not by flesh”. He said then said that peace, harmony and prosperity of a community can be determined by the purity of an individual’s faith in God.
In the programme, special songs were presented by Jentiyanger and the centenary choir. The celebration was led by Renemla Ozukum, short speeches were delivered D Yongnyak Kongyak, Mongsenyimti Compound Baptist Church Pastor Imtimenpang and Mongsenyimti Village Council. Invocation was said by Yisemyong Baptist Church Pastor Akangmongba and benediction by Tzurmen Baptist Church Pastor Lima Pongen.
The centenary celebration was also marked with the release of a book, “Yimjung Apular” written on the life and works of Rev. O Imti Ozukum by executive secretary, ABAM, Mar Atsongchanger during the opening function. The book was compiled by his siblings.
