
Assam Rifles has apprehended one NSCN (R) functionary, two NSCN (K) “OGWs” along with two accomplices and also raided a house of NSCN (I-M) member.
According to a joint press release by Assam Rifles, on February 16, troops of 37 Assam Rifles conducted three consecutive operations leading to apprehension of one NSCN (R) cadre, two “Overground Workers (OGWs) of NSCN (K)” and two of their accomplices at Chumukedima and Dimapur area.
AR said two weapons, 95 rounds of assorted live ammunition, four mobiles and other “warlike stores” were also recovered from their possession.
NSCN (R) cadres have been identified Maithi Sema (38) residence of Pukho, New Pimla, Sukhovi and the accomplices were identified as Kiyeho (32), residence of Zutovi and Tokihe Sema (31) residence of Pukho, New Pimla, Sukhovi.
OGWs of NSCN (K) has been identified as Achinyo wife of Ventso, residence of Rengma Colony, Walford and Mudozo, son of late Chekhuveyi, residence of Phek.
They were arrested with one AK 47 magazine, three 7.62mm SLR magazines and 94 rounds of assorted live ammunition. AR said items recovered from apprehended OGWs were probably for use of by NSCN (K) cadres.
In another operation, 37 Assam Rifles and 32 Assam Rifles searched the house of NSCN (I-M) rajapeyu at Thilixu village based on confirmed information from multiple sources regarding presence of an armed cadre.
AR said during search of the house, one 9mm pistol with magazine, one magazine of point 22 pistol and live ammunition were recovered. The NSCN (I-M) cadre was absconding from his house.
On interaction with his family, AR said it was confirmed that the recovered items belonged to Atovi Achumi (36) residence of Thilixu.
