KVK Wokha organizes ‘pre RKS’

Krishi vigyan kendra (KVK) Wokha along with ICAR research complex for NEH region, Nagaland centre organised a pre-rabi kisan sanmelan (RKS) at Ralan, Wokha on March 30.
SDO (Civil) and Magistrate (Border), Ralan, Thungchanbemo Tungoe speaking as guest of honour emphasized on the adoption of new technologies for improvement of production and productivity of crops which would enhance the livelihood of the farming community. 
He pointed out around 95% of the people depended on agriculture and allied activities and hence it was needed to provide quality seeds and planting materials to the farmers.  He also appreciated the activities undertaken by KVK Wokha for the benefits of the farmers.
Also at the programme, coordinator, KVK Wokha, Dr. Santosh Kr. Baishya spoke on the importance of creating awareness among the farmers on improved cultivation practices like suitable seed varieties and right sowing time for rabi crops. He urged the farmers to adopt technologies suitable to the area and derived benefit from the developmental schemes of central government such as pradhan mantri fasal bima yojana, soil health card, pradhan mantri suraksha bima yojana, etc.  Others who spoke in the programme were subject matter specialist (soil science) Dr.  Sanjay Ray, subject matter specialist (plant breeding) Bendangla Imsong, and assistant chief technical officer (ACTO) horticulture Megokhono Meyase.
Later, during an interaction hour between farmers and the resource persons, various problems and constraints related to agriculture and allied subject were discussed.
