VK area organizations– VK Range Students Union (VKRSU), VK Area GBs Association (VKAGBA), Urban Committee (UC); VK area/range frontal organisations; VK Town Students’ Union (VKTSU), elders, HCMC members and advisors at a joint emergency meeting at VK Town Hall on Wednesday have resolved to suspend the proposed NH-2 bandh for six months.
The decision to suspend the bandh was taken after one Dr. Tovito L was appointed as general duty medical office (GDMO) of Primary Health Centre (PHC) VK town on contractual basis under NHM.
The joint meeting, while acknowledging the timely intervention of the department in appointing the doctor, has demanded the transfer of one lady doctor, presently posted at VK PHC, but was on study leave, and provide a doctor through departmental regularisation/policy or NPSC recruitment, whichever is earlier, as assured by the principal director H&FW and director H&FW within six months.
Failure to fulfil the demands, the bodies cautioned that they would be left with no other choice but continue to stick to the previous decision.
Meanwhile, the VK Range Student’s Union, Zunheboto (VKRSUZ) has extended solidarity to the area bodies.
In a separate press release, VKRSU advisors and VKRSUZ founding members Tokai K Awomi and Kughato K Sümi also extended gratitude to the health and family welfare department for addressing the issue positively at the earliest.
