Eastern Sümi Hoho (ESH) took out a silent procession to express its resentment against Kiphire district administration’s failure to address the “4-point charter of demands”.
ESH said, in its 4-point demand served on the DC on March 24 2016, the hoho sought action with seven days. However, they failed to get any positive response, it added. In this regard, hundreds of ESH members, including KTDSSU; Sümi community Kiphire town; and Eastern Sümi Totimo Hoho Kiphire unit launched a silent procession with placards which read ‘We demand justice’; ‘We say no to intimidation and threat’; ‘We say no to force expulsion’; ‘Equal protection of Law’; ‘Ensure justice with equality’; ‘Arrest the culprits’; ‘Stop provocative practices’; ‘Government is for safety of public’; ‘We say no to favouritism and nepotism’; etc and so on.
The procession culminated at the DC’s office where an hour long marathon meeting and deliberation was held with the deputy commissioner.
During the meeting, ESH president, L Kahuvi Sümi reaffirmed the charter of demands made by the Hoho. According to those who had attended the meeting, the DC had reportedly assured to take measures with regard to the issue. He also sought a report from ADC on the matter.
