Action plan committee (APC) Longkhim Chare Area and the Village Council Union Tuensang District (VCUTD) have threatened to impose indefinite blockade starting April 28, 2016 if the authorities failed to start the two-laning works along NH-155/202 (Mokokchung to Tuensang) within one week. In an open letter addressed to the state chief minister, the VCUTD president Yingchong, general secretary Setsachem, APC general secretary Moyasingkhum, advisor chairman Chonyimong, vice chairman Hongcho and press secretary O. Tia Sangtam expressed dismay that despite survey and demarcation completed and villagers clearing NOC in 2014, the road was still lying unattended.
They lamented that owing to the negligence of road maintenance, the people of Tuensang district had to suffer untold miseries. Further, they said that in the last 10 years, the road was repaired just once by the local contractors, adding that the road was currently filled with potholes everywhere. The two bodies also said the drainage was “totally horrible” and missing in many places.
