NTCP in Wokha and Peren by 2016

National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) under National Health Mission (NHM) by H&FW Department, which is currently in Kohima and Dimapur would be expanded to Wokha and Peren by this year.
This was informed to Nagaland Post by joint director H&FW and state nodal officer NTCP, Dr. H Hotokhu Chishi. He said that Rs. 97 lakh has been earmarked for carrying out NTCP in the four districts but added that the fund was awaited.
Dr. Hotokhu informed that NTCP for Wokha and Peren would focus on sensitization for education and health institutions, community level and village level while Kohima and Dimapur would focus on enforcement of law.   
He informed that additional manpower of two psychologists, two social workers and two data entry operator would be recruited each for NTCP Wokha and Peren. The nodal officer regretted that the programme could not be expanded to other districts due to fund constraint.
He also pointed out that “compliance survey” of public places and offices would be conducted after few months, to ascertain the outcome of challan and receipt distributed to the law enforcement officers from various departments during the workshop.
