Thanamir becomes second LED lit village

Thanamir village under Pungro sub-division has become the second complete LED light lit village on June 7. 
The initiative was taken up by the department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change with the help of department of Land Resources, Mumbai based NGO EcoSolutions, Power department and district administration.
District project officer of Land Resources, Kiphire, Ahozhe Sumi officially declared Thanamir as second complete LED village of Nagaland and probably Northeast as well. He apprised the villagers that their village was a tourist hotspot and becoming a complete LED light lit village made it even more admirable and a move towards a commendable model village. 
He also thanked wildlife warden, Kiphire division, Kamdi Hemant Bhaskar for taking the initiative. ADC Pungro, Wenyei Konyak emphasized to the villagers on the far reaching advantages of LED light bulbs and to continue initiating certain developmental activities themselves so they could benefit more.
Pledge to save electricity was read by the villagers led by range forest officer, Kiphire wildlife division, K. Kiusang Yim. 
In order to become a complete LED light village, the villagers gave up every single tungsten bulb for that of 15 watt LED bulbs.
Others who were present at the event were EAC Khongsa Chonpenthung Ezung, EAC Kuisam Samuel and JE (Electrical) Pungro, M. Daniel.
Range forest officer, Kiphire wildlife division, Lansothung Lotha acknowledged the kind gesture of district project officer Kiphire and Yatendra Agarval, Trustee of EcoSolutions, Mumbai for assisting Thanamir village council in achieving this new landmark.
