
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome (IAS) was of the opinion that it was time for students to build strong foundation and bring change in the society.
Speaking at the Eastern Christian College (ECC) Dimapur 24th annual freshers’ meet cum cultural day Saturday, at its college auditorium as chief guest, Yhome in his speech felicitated the freshers and encouraged them to be the change and to dream big.
He was of the opinion that change could only happen if each one of “us” reaffirmed to be part of it and contribute towards it. “We cannot rely on people from abroad to save us, inorder to build the foundation of change the principles of integrity, honesty and justice should be revived” Yhome added.
He further challenged the gathering to question oneself of what one had contributed for the society instead of criticizing the problems and issues of the society. He also said that they should start taking a step forward little at a time for change inorder to make a huge leap and progress in the days to come.
At the programme welcome address was delivered by Eastern Christian College Students Union (ECCSU), general secretary Hukavi H. Aye, speech on behalf of fresher’s was delivered by Asang of class-11 and vote of thanks was delivered by ECCSU cultural secretary Tiakaba Jamir.
The programme further highlighted informal session were Kaino, BA 1st semester and Lichano BA 1st semester were adjudged Mr and Miss freshers’.
