Apex Naga organizations including the Naga Hoho (NH), Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) have “fervently” appealed to the Naga leaders in the NSCN (K) to reconsider for ceasefire with the Government of India (GoI) in the larger interest of the Nagas aspiration for political settlement to the long protracted Naga struggle. In a joint press release, NH president P. Chuba Ozukum, NMA president Abeiu Meru, NSF president Subenthung Kithan and NPMHR president Neingulo Krome while appealing for peace and harmony condemned “the recent act of war by the Indian army and para commandos upon the NSCN-K in the Naga inhabited areas across the Myanmar border.” They further called for peace and said that “such hostilities by the Indian Armed forces are detrimental to the peace initiatives which are being undertaken by the Naga public organisations.”
