Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acharya on Monday said, with the signing of the frame work agreement between Government of India and NSCN (I-M) on August 3 last, it was “the right time to solve the protracted Naga problem under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Acharya, in a statement issued through its PRO, said “now is the time to work together for a permanent peace in Nagaland and it is taking shape with the signing of Framework agreement with NSCN (I-M) and Government of India.”
In this regard, Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acharya appealed to all the political parties, NGOs, students’ organizations and civil society to take a positive and transparent step to meet different group leaders and hold dialogues for a respectable solution, by urging them to join the ongoing peace talks.
“All the political parties in a democracy, NGOs and civil organizations have to open up their mind and retrospect what they are doing at this crucial hour to bring all the groups to a negotiating table. Our action should be transparent to win the confidence of the people of Nagaland”, he said.
Acharya also fervently appealed to all the political parties, NGOs and students’ organizations to show their “capacity and sincerity to convince all the concerned group leaders to have dialogue with Central government for a permanent solution of Nagaland problem”.
For this, the Governor felt that there was a need for the civil society, Naga Political Groups and NGOs “to express themselves unanimously for a respectful solution”.
Acharya was also optimistic that the ongoing visit of the President of Myanmar, U Htin Kyaw to India would surely help the NSCN (K) group come to the table for talks.
Meanwhile, Acharya has lauded the Konyak Union (KU) for their sincere appeal and efforts to make NSCN (K) re-consider the ceasefire agreement with the Central Government.
