Nagaland Song Writing Contest finds its winner

With the view to identify and promote the vast talents in the state, the 1st ever Nagaland Song Writing Contest 2016, was held at the Green Park, Dimapur, Saturday, with Chief Conservator of Forest Supongnukshi, IFS as the chief guest. 
The event was organised by the DK’s Entertainment Group under the theme “Tapping The Untapped Talents”. 
A total of 90 participants took part in the event and showcased their creativity in writing. 
Following a thorough screening and examination, the Samo Jamir, bagged the first prize while Chumdemo Merry and Moko Koza were placed in the second and third places respectively.
Commendations were given to 1. Pauranglungbe Hega, 2. P. Lam and 3. Tiamongba.
The winner of the contest Samo Jamir said that he would like to encourage all the hidden talents in Nagaland to come forward and take the leap win or lose because that is how we grow as individuals.
The DK Entertainment  thanked all the participants and the event partners who made the historical event a success. Furthermore, the event will be an annual one and solicits talented individuals to participate and contribute towards the music industry in the state.
In his inaugural speech, Supongnukshi, IFS, said that writing and composing is an inborn gift from God to enrich our lives and others we come across in our journey of life. With this powerful gift we can either bring about a positive change or a negative impact on the lives that we touch. Chose with care, the messages that you want to sent out to the world. 
During the inaugural programme, Kezia Semy released her original song titled “Walk in Gospel” written by DK and music by Lichen Kichu. The chief judge of the event, Alobo Naga encouraged the young songwriters to take the matter in a professional way. Vote of thanks was delivered by Alebu, Event Manager of DK’s EG. The program was chaired by Senti Longchar (DK), founder the Entertainment Group.
The song titles were given on the spot under three themes, “A Better Tomorrow”, “Motherland forgotten” and “Unbreak my Heart”. The participants showcased their talents during the interval. The next event will be organized in Kohima. The organizers thanked the Green Park authority for allowing the group to hold the event there.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, Senti aka DK said the group will be travelling down to Dimapur to commence with its street show as soon as the weather cools down.
