
Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) was distributed to Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) sanitary workers by labour commissioner Er. L. Nungshiyanger Aier at KMC conference hall Kohima, Tuesday
In his address, Er. Aier said PPE distributed by labour department would useful for the personal hygiene and safety of the workers and also for environment protection.
He explained in detail about the equipments and asked the workers to use it sensibly, not to consume alcohol while on duty, to be attentive at work and avoid carrying excessive weight.
The commissioner also explained the provisions provided to manual workers by the government of India and advised them on safety measures for the sanitary workers to prevent diseases.
KMC administrator, Kovi Meyase, who chaired the programme, expressed gratitude to the labour department for the much needed equipments for the sanitary workers.
He informed that KMC has 32 sanitary workers who work even on Sundays and festivals without any holiday. He encouraged the workers to work sincerely with the provided equipments.
KMC senior sanitary inspector Neilhouphrelie Paphino thanked the department on behalf of the sanitary workers. The programme was attended by labour department and KMC officials, sanitary workers and others. The given away items include helmet, safety shoes, hand glove, jacket and others.
