ANSWFSEA suspends stir

September 28, 2016 | by admin

All Nagaland Social Welfare Field Staff Employees Association (ANSWFSEA) Tuesday has suspended its agitation as state chief minister has reportedly assured to approve their demand in the next cabinet sitting.
ANSWFSEA president Benjamin Sema informed the agitating members that the assurance was conveyed to them through the director social welfare, on behalf of the social welfare minister.
Earlier, the members gathered at the directorate of the social welfare and expressed anguish on the state government of failing to keep its commitment after the association pointed out the “inherent defects” in the existing service rules (Nagaland Social Security and Welfare Service (Revised) Rules 1997).
According to ANSWFSEA president, more than 70% of CDPOs and above (officers) in the directorate were either contract or deputation.
He alleged that the demand put forwarded to the government was prepared and listed in the cabinet meeting minutes in November last.
However, the association was surprised when it found out that the files to regularize the contract appointees of CDPOs was placed before the cabinet while the file of  ANSWFSEA was lying at the directorate.
Benjamin also alleged that supervisors despite being recruited through NPSC were deprived of timely promotion and career progression even after rendering more than 20 years of continuous service.
He therefore stated that if the present trend continues many of the supervisors despite being recruited through NPSC would have to retire without any promotion.
Earlier, ANSWFSEA said it had also refrained from agitations and withdrew the court case against those CDPOs presently appointed on contract after an assurance from the state government for a “favourable action” in 2014.
In this regard, ANSWFSEA threatened to resume and intensify its agitation on the failure of the state government to fulfill its demand.
