
Training of Trainers on Community First Responder (CFR) commenced at Phek on October 3 till October 7, organized by the District Disaster Management Authority, Phek in collaboration with CD&HG, H&FW & SDRF and supported by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority.
According to DIPR report, DC Phek, who is also chairman DDMA, MurohuChotso said that “we” need such programmes to keep alert as disasters may occur at any time. He mentioned that disasters may come in the form of hail storms, famines, forest fires, earthquakes etc where some may be man made.
The function was chaired by SDO (C) Phek, Nukutulu S. Venuh while a briefing of the training was given by State Emergency Response Officer, NSDMA, Redemo Shitio.Vote of thanks was pronounced by District Project Associate, Phek NSDMA, Vekuzo Lohe.
PEREN: Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority Peren conducted Community First Responder (CFR) training at Jalukie town from September 26 to 30. DC Peren exhorted the gathering on the first day and in his brief speech he encouraged the participants to take the training seriously as it was a certified course.
Altogether 28 participants from the subdivisions namely Athibung, Nsong, Ngalwa, Tening, Jalukie and Peren sadar attended the five-day intensive TOTs course on CFR. Resource persons for the CFR consisted of personnel from the NSDMA, CD&HG and H&FW. Participants were given certificates by the SDO civil, Jalukie.
MON: Civil Defence and Home Guards department Mon conducted training on civil defence and disaster management for ward members of Mon town, on September 22.
At the opening ceremony, home guards and civil defence district commandant, Kapu Mesen in his opening address stated that since community has been the first responder in any disaster they should know the basic of the search and rescue and also asked them to be prepared and mitigate for reducing the vulnerability and save lives. Earlier, Tompang Ward Union, Mon town chairman Poying Konyak welcomed the training team and also expressed his happiness for imparting such training and sensitization programme. Altogether 50 members attended the training programme.
