Silver jubilee programme of Sumi Baptist Convention commenced Friday at Trinity Theological College (TTC), Thahekhu.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA & chairman NIDC Ltd, Tovihoto Ayemi said jubilee was a time to look back and thank the pioneers for their farsightedness and sacrifices.
He said Sumi Christianity was more than 100 years and encouraged people to spiritually grow in maturity.
Tovihoto also called upon church leaders and churches to work in unison as they were all working for the Lord.
In this regard, he appealed the leaders present to spread the message of unity when they return to their respective Churches and areas.
While remarking that 99% of Sumis were Christians, he challenged the Sumi church leaders to work towards achieving 100 % and glorify God.
He said it was an achievement for the TTC Thahekhu which is going to host the convocation of the Senate of Serampore College (University).
Executive secretary of WSBAK, Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi delivered the sermon and spoke about unity and loving one another. He also unveiled the jubilee monolith.
Sr. Pastor, Thilixu Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Yehevi Zhimo released the jubilee souvenir.
