In an evening of glamour and elegance, 14 beauties descended on the ramp to vie for the coveted Miss Western Yimchungrü crown here at a packed Dimapur Town Hall on Thursday.
15-year-old student Miss Wongrila, the crowd favourite who also got the Miss Catwalk title, emerged the winner after several rounds comprising ethnic wear, modern wear, evening gown and Q&A for the five finalists in the 3rd edition of Miss Western Yimchungrü 2016 beauty pageant themed “Domina Integritatis.”
The event was organised by the Western Yimchungrü Students’ Union (WYSU).
Miss Shotola and Miss Tsutushi were adjudged 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up respectively. The winner was crowned by title holder Miss Western Yimchungrü 2015. Likewise, the two runner-ups were crowned by 2015 runner-up.
The winner and runner-up received cash prizes and certificates plus other perks.
The judging panel of three included former beauty queens and a police officer.
Miss Tanshila bagged three titles namely Miss Beautiful Skin, Miss Photogenic, and Best Ethnic Wear. The Miss Congeniality title went to Pisangla while Miss Shochimla got Miss Beautiful Hair and Miss Rejoila was given the Miss Fluent in Yimchungrü title.
The event also saw performances by various Yimchungrü artists who serenaded the contestants.
