Protest rally over murder in Bhandari

Around 500 people from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Thursday staged a mass rally at Bhandari town in protest against the alleged murder of a 34-year old employee (NCE) of 7th NAP Bn at Bhandari. The decomposed body late N. Nchumbeni Jami was found inside the battalion premises at Bhandari on January 8. 
The rally commenced from 8 am at the State Bank of India junction. Protestors with banners and placards, which read “murder most foul”, “no place for criminals”, “ we want justice” etc, also marched towards 7th NAP camp area and returned to the junction where leaders from various organization addressed the rally. 
Earlier, rally started with an invocation by Kenneth Kikon, Youth director BTBE. 
The protestors also submitted a memorandum to ADC Bhandari wherein a 7-day ultimatum was served on state home minister urging him to take action in arresting the culprit(s), stated BTEH president Thungsali Odyuo and BTSU president Longtsubemo T. Kikon in a press note. They also demanded adequate relief to the victim’s family. 
The public further resolved to initiate own course of action in the event the state government failed to arrest the culprits and also held responsible for any untoward incidents. The public leaders assured all possible cooperation to the state government in nabbing the accused.
Civil society organizations- BTLH, BTEH, LLPRO, BTSU, LLRSU, Mhankai Okho Bhandari Town, Sungro Range Union Bhandari Town, students from various schools in Bhandari, representatives from 7th NAP Bn Bhandari and public took part in the rally.
