DBS provides assistance to students

Dimapur Bangali Samaj (DBS) organized a special function on Sunday at Shree Shree RamThakur Ashram to provide financial assistance in the form of admission fees and grant of textbooks to students from “weaker sections”. 
A press note by DBS finance secretary, N. Barua stated the programme was attended by Professor Debasish Datta (Retd) and Professor K. P. Avikasit(Retd) as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The chief guest and guest of honour congratulated the Bangali Samaj for their noble venture and exhorted the students to accept the challenges of life by pursuing their studies in all earnest. They also encouraged the students to become good human beings, better citizens and share social responsibilities as they grow up.
In the programme, DBS president, Kamalakant highlighted the various philanthropic projects undertaken by the Dimapur Bangali Samaj.
DBS president also pledged to continue the good works with the active cooperation of its members. He thanked the guests, parents and the students and wished them success.
Dimapur Bangali Samaj provided assistance to ten students of Shashtri Samaj, who live in tents near railway tracks. 75 other students were also given admission fees and admitted to various schools in the city. Ten students of different classes were provided textbooks. 
Other dignitaries who attended the function included advocate Swapan Paul, advocate Yogendra Gupta, Sunil Chakraborty, Abhijit Bhattacharjee, Prabir Sarkar, R. M. Bagchi, Shankar Debnath, Prof Mrs. Chhanda Dutta, Prof. Dulal Mazumdar, Shree Ram Prasad Paul, Nirmalendu Baruah, Harender Gupta and others.
