Ao Senden and Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO), in a separate press statements, have made it clear that their stand on the ongoing issue should not be misconstrued as political.
Ao Senden has reiterated that the present movement of the people was initiated by various Hohos to protect and safeguard the rights of the Nagas, and therefore should not be misconstrued as political.
In this regard, Senden acting president C Angang Jamir and acting secretary L Tally Lkr in a press statement have cautioned that any political party or individual challenging the movement would not be left unpunished. They also reiterated that the movement was formed not under the instigation of any person, but was purely a people’s movement to protect the inherent rights “sacredly safeguarded by the blood and tears of our forefathers”.
Therefore, the Senden asked any leader, who goes against the voice of the people should relinquish their position.
Further, Ao Senden has appealed to all political leaders/legislators, whosoever believes that he/she is a Naga citizen should heed to the voice of the people and withdraw support to the person who has lost the faith of its people. They also warned of strong action against any political party or individual issuing any press statement against the call of the Ao’s in any local dailies.
ENPO: Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO) has affirmed that its stand was all about protecting the political integrity of Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution. ENPO also asserted that as a parent body of the six tribes, it wished to notify in making its stand clear of being non-political in the present ongoing crisis in the state ruling dispensation.
Further, ENPO asserted that “we are free from any political parties or for the matter above any one sided politics without principles or cause.” Therefore, the organisation has informed all citizens and organizations under ENPO to refrain from issuing any press statement in this regard that could otherwise disregard its integrity.
