Sanitation day observed at Zapami village

Zapami village under Phek district observed its yearly village sanitation day on March 16, to commemorate the Nirman Gram Purushkar (NGP) Award received by the village during 2009-10 from the government of India for achieving total sanitation coverage status.
In a press note, WATSAN (Water and Sanitation) chairman Kedou Wetsah stated that this year, the sanitation day was observed through poster campaign and mass social work involving the whole village community. 
The village roads, drains, community toilets, footpaths were cleaned. 
Household wise cleanliness competition was also conducted for the 4 colonies of the village. The 3 cleanest families from each colony were given citations and prizes. 
Kedulhi-u Wetsah family from the Kethuku colony was adjudged as the overall cleanest family in the village for this year. 
Around 550 villagers participated in the sanitation day. 
WATSAN committee and village council expressed its appreciation to the executive director WSSO, PHED Nagaland for the unflinching supports towards village sanitation campaign.
