Under the initiative and support of department of Art & Culture an event management group (artists group) “A thousand Art Project” would launch the Saturday Art School on April 18 at the conference hall of Art & Culture directorate by Vilalhou Naudi senior executive at Art & Culture department.
This was announced by Mhao Odyuo convenor A Thousand Art Project during press briefing also attended by other artists at FIFA café Kohima on Thursday.
Odyuo said the art school would be a joint venture with Nagaland Art Society, Nagaland Street Art and Music Planet.
He said Saturday Art School would be an avenue for the young art enthusiasts in the state, which would give an opportunity to higher aspects of professionalism.
He lamented that though Nagaland had many art professionals, it was lacking opportunity to venture forward, for which Saturday Art School was started in joint- venture along with the department of Art and Culture to create employment opportunities as well.
He informed that the classes would be held every Saturday starting from May at Art and Culture department where basic and advance course of art would be provided to the students by the professional artists in the state.
Odyuo informed that Saturday School of Art was unique and would open new space in minds, learning basic skills of the visual arts to discover one’s own artistic language.
He said the art school would give class for general and beginners who were interested in art and design and wish to progress for further study. He said the course content included introduction to drawing and painting, use of variety materials and range of techniques, study of line, tone, colour and texture, using pencil, charcoal ink, paint and collage.
The Thousand Project Group also informed that their group would organize a “pro-shot” photography workshop on April 18 and 19 at conference hall department of Art and Culture with the resource person, Ranna M.V. national awardees photographer from Bangalore. Interested persons have been invited to participate at the event.
