World Environment Day observed in Nagaland

World Environment Day was observed by various organisations, schools and government departments across Nagaland by organizing different programmes.
AYO: Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) along with its constituent units including SAYO, NAYO, WAYO and CYO observed the World Environment Day on June 5.
The AYO also collaborated with all the village youth bodies and planted trees in all the Angami villages. Around 5000 tree saplings were planted on the day. In Kohima, AYO officials along with youth leaders of the four AYO constituent units also carried out sanitation and plantation drive at New Secretariat Complex, Town Hall and some other parts under Kohima town.
Meanwhile, AYO after observing that the town hall, which is under construction, has been lying pending for a very long time, has appeal to the contractor(s) and the concerned department to arrive to a logical conclusion, and resume the construction works at the earliest in the interest of the public.
GHSK & KASU: Government High School Khaghaboto (GHSK) and Khaghaboto Area Students Union (KASU) jointly observed the day at the school premise. Students and teachers brought a sapling each of trees and medicinal plants and with the initiative of KASU around 50 saplings were brought from Forest department which were planted around the school compound. 
DDLSA:  Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in collaboration Team Clean Dimapur promoted legal awareness on environmental issues and safeguarding the environment at Government Higher Secondary School, Dimapur with the students of class 11 and 12. Plantation of tree saplings was provided by the Forest department, Dimapur.  
NEPED: Nagaland Environment Protection and Economic Development (NEPED) organized a tree plantation programme with school children where 200 school children and teachers from GMS Keyake, GMS P. Khel, Kohima village and GPS Garüzou participated in the campaign. 
A total number of 600 tree saplings supplied by the department of forest, environment and climate change were also planted along Gazie-Tseizie Agri-link road. 
ZMHSS: Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School (ZMHSS) Dimapur displayed placards , slogans, posters, calligraphy. Drawing and essay competitions relating to the theme were held. 
SBI, old market branche:  State Bank of India (SBI), SME old market branch had organized a drawing competition based on the theme at Railway High School, Dimapur.  Tree plantation in the premises of the school was also carried out by BM, Gwanile Khing and headmaster Anil Chandra Barman. 
MSS: Mount Saramati School (MSS), Unity Village, 5th Mile Dimapur observed with a programme held in the school assembly hall where students participated for house competitions on poetry, speech and quiz with topics related to nature. Poetry was recited in English and Hindi by the junior students whereas the quiz was competed between the senior students. 
LLMS: Little Laureates Montessori School observed the day to mould the children from tender age to love and grow along with nature. The students planted saplings. Teachers also addressed the children as an important part of school curriculum and to start early in life to connect with nature. 
KLC: Kohima Law College (KLC) conducted special session on the day with professor in-charge BCI practical and training, Kezhokhoto Savi stressing on the urgent need to protect environment for future. Several pledges and slogans were suggested by the students in order to spread better awareness in the society. There was plantation of trees and plants in the college compound.
9 BIHAR: 9 Bihar under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized a tree plantation drive at Aboi, Shengha, Chingnyu and Chenmoho villages of Mon district on June 5 on account of world environment day. Altogether 400 saplings were planted with the participation of school children and locals.
ASSAM RIFLES: On the occasion of World Environment Day, 5 AR, 6 AR, 15 AR, 35 AR, 40 AR, 7 AR, 9 AR and 44 AR, all under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) Observed the day with various activities such as cleanliness drive, tree plantation, poster making/painting, essay competition, lectures, workshop, distribution of dustbins etc across the state. Many sectors of AR conducted the environment related activities in association with local organisations and school children
 GMS Botsa: Government Middle School (GMS), Botsa working hard to make the campus clean and beautiful.
MC Kohima: Modern college Kohima observed ‘World environment day’ on June 5 with tree sapling plantation and cleanliness drive conducted at the college campus and its vicinity. The programme was jointly organized by NSS and the NCC girls wing of the college.
PYO, PSU: Piphema Youth Organization and Piphema Students’ Union jointly conducting a cleanliness cum plantation drive in all the schools and other locations within the village on June 5 on account of World Environment Day.
