Officer’s Hill Kohima becomes state’s 1st GIS & 3D mapped colony

Officer’s Hill Colony Kohima has become the first Geographic Information System (GIS) and 3D mapped colony in Nagaland, the project was launched by Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Soundararajan, on Saturday at Hotel Ura.
The zero budget community project initiative was conceptualized, planned, strategized and implemented under a record time of three weeks.
The project team was led by technical consultant, Er. Yanpvuo Kikon consisted of Officers Hill Youth organization (OHYO) president Keneisezo; executive member Metevizo Sophie and project director GIS and remote sensing centre, Er. Mhathung Kithan along with a 20 youth volunteers from the colony.
In his address, the DC acknowledged Er. Yanpvuo and his team for coming up with the pro-youth initiative and said “making technology a need for the common man could be the biggest achievement”.
Soundararajan was optimistic that the project would be beneficial to the district administration in dealing with land encroachment issue and also help in preparing the citizens for “Smart City”.
Soundararajan pointed out that in the present era one cannot shy away from technology and added that one should find ways to use technology to improve daily life.
He said initiative of the youths without taking monetary assistance from anyone was a reminder of the potentials and capabilities of youth. The DC hoped that such initiative would encourage youths from other colonies as well and gradually improve Kohima town.
Project director GIS and remote sensing centre, Er. Mhathung Kithan, appreciated the team and said the department was all ready to provide technical support for development. He also expressed desire to expand the project in other colonies as well.
Er. Yanpvuo Kikon also expressed hope that with this simple interface the team hopes to gradually transform Officer Hill to a Smart Colony.
He said postal service, courier service, local groceries and business can now start home deliveries by entering the house number or Google ID or enter house owner’s name and locate the house easily through the website www.nagalandaddress.in.
Er. Yanpvuo has also welcomed interested colonies to approach OHYO or to visit the website. 
The programme was attended by Officer’s Hill Colony Kohima, chairman, officials from GIS and remote sensing centre and colony residents attended the function.
