Chief engineer PHED, Er. Kevisekho Kruse said Nagas were more in need of scientists, technocrats and professionals to build Naga society stating that academic studies alone was not enough for the society to sustain.
Addressing the felicitation programme for HSLC Naga toppers, organized by Naga Students’ federation (NSF), at De Oriental Grand Kohima, Kruse said education has many segments and producing doctor, engineers or politicians was not enough. He said moral purity, personality, trustworthiness and courage to speak and stand for truth were more important than the knowledge of facts.
Kruse urged the students to instil a balanced personality as without this academic success alone would not take a person forward.
The chief engineer also advocated the students to explore the inner potential and expressed confidence that with so many Naga toppers, it gave hope and optimism in life.
While congratulating the toppers, Kruse also acknowledged the new team of NSF office bearers for organizing the event and encouraging the students’ community.
NSF president Kesosul Christopher Ltu in his address said today’s event was the 17th edition and said NSF initiated in the year 2000 to encourage the students’ emerging as toppers in HSLC examinations.
Ltu said the investment of hard work definitely pay off well and said within a short span of time, “these” toppers would become thinkers of the society.
Stating this he said as bright students, leaders, one should know the history, responsibilities, aspiration and hope of the Nagas.
Ltu also thanked the parents for putting their effort in bringing up the child with utmost care.
He regretted that the felicitation programme was co-incidentally organized along with Tulini festival where the Sumi toppers could not attend.
Top 7, Ravelü Nienu in her brief address thanked the parents who had devoted their time to see their sons and daughters succeed and also credited the teachers for instilling the flame of dedication.
Stating that hard work and perseverance had led them thus far, Nienu appealed her friends to take this as the biggest challenge to inspire people and carry on the responsibility.
Music topper NBSE 2017, Neingusalie Yano presented special number.
The programme was attended by senior members of NSF, parents and guardians of the achievers. Altogether 29 Naga toppers were felicitated.
