
School of Agricultural Sciences & Rural Development (SASRD), Medziphema campus celebrated 24th Nagaland University foundation day on September 6.
During a “special foundation day lecture”, vice chancellor of North East Christian University, Medziphema professor D.T Khathing exhorted teachers, and students of SASRD to be proactive and to keep in mind the necessity of keeping up to date with technological advances so as to be able to compete at the global level.
He also stressed on the fact that although digitalisation is important, the human touch and interaction is key in development of character and moral uprightness. He urged students not to become job seekers but to become job givers because with the knowledge and skills learned, they could become entrepreneurs and establish start-ups, thus providing avenues of job opportunities to others.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by professor Akali Sema, invocation was pronounced by Dr. R. Zuyie and vote of thanks was delivered by Menolhousie Salhu. Pro vice chancellor SASRD: NU, professor T. Lanusosang gave a welcome speech, dean SASRD:NU, professor A.K Makar gave a short exhortation while SASRD EU choir and NU male presented special numbers. Best MTS employees for the year 2016-2017 was also awarded to Ato Sema, (agril. engineering workshop) and Vikholieii (horticulture dept).
