Naga family attacked by miscreants at Chumu

Situation remained tense in Chumukedima area after a group of around five to six non-Naga youth attacked a Naga family Thursday evening.
According to PRO Dimapur police, the father and the minor son (4-5 years) were attacked with wooden planks. Both the father son duo was beaten black and blue, and the minor boy was left with a torn lip. The mother and the infant escaped unhurt.
Police said that the incident took place when the father, on seeing the non-Naga youth allegedly smoking weed (ganja) openly, reprimanded them not to smoke-up. 
Soon after the victim with his family were about to depart from the place in an autorickshaw, the non-Naga youth followed them started to attack. Though some of the attackers managed to escape from the scene, one of them was apprehended by Chumukedima youth.
Upon interrogation, the person in custody of the youth, disclosed the identities of the other culprits. In this regard, hundreds of residents of Chumukedima along with the youth organization have launched a massive manhunt to nab the other culprits. No further details could be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
