Dzüdza village under Western Angami region of Kohima district was officially inaugurated on Saturday by chief engineer, department of Power, Er. Rokozhalie Gwirie as the chief guest
Addressing the gathering, Gwirie said the village would now be the gateway to state capital and called upon the inhabitants to extend their best for the welfare of the village.
“The length and breadth of the village stretches along the NH 29, and therefore, the village has the potential to become a centre for commercial activities,” said Gwirie.
He also advised the dwellers and leaders of the village to have strategic plan on how to move ahead, rather than randomly approaching every developmental activity.
“In becoming the gateway of Kohima, there is a bright prospect for this village to become a centre of all kinds of activities, including hotels, parking for taxis and trucks. It is in our hands to make it a well-planned village/town,” Gwirie remarked.
Speaking as the guest of honour, Jotsoma Village Council chairman, Megolhousie Nagi, hoped that the village would grow up to become a commercial centre.
“Being located on the stretch of national highway, the people of this village will have maximum benefits and advantages. Therefore, take the challenge to lead the way,” Nagi said.
President of Western Angami Public Organisation, Lhouphrevilie Rino expressed his happiness and welcomed the new village to its fold on behalf of the people.
The programme was chaired by Visakholie Nisa, while Howeho kro-u presented a folk song. Secretary of organising committee, Kepelhuto Nakhro gave a brief history of the village formation, while the vote of thanks was delivered by K. Senotsu.
Earlier, the chief guest also unveiled a monolith; the dedicatory prayer for the village and the monolith was pronounced by the pastors and reverends of Jotsoma Village led by Rev. Savito Nagi.
