Excise personnel seize IMFL

In the run-up for the state assembly elections, different units of excise department have seized large quantities of IMFL from around Dimapur town.
On February 11, acting on a tip off, Excise Mobile Squad Special Task Force (STF), which was constituted in view of the upcoming assembly election, seized 734 bottles of assorted liquor worth around Rs. 12 lakh on February 11 from town area. 
This was informed in a press statement by Superintendent of excise (mobile squad), Katoho Sumi. In this connection, the owner of the consignment, identified as Bindhu Das, son of late Rahul Das has been arrested and booked for violation of various section of NLTP Act’ 89, Katoho said.
Meanwhile, the seized liquor was deposited in the mobile squad malkhana for later destruction. The superintendent further admitted that flow of illegal liquor was on the rise in view of the election and to contain the same, excise department has revamped its field duty activities. He also informed that the unit will continue to raid various places not only in Dimapur but throughout the state.
