Chakhroma GBs’ Union (CGBU) has strongly condemned the raid conducted by Assam Rifles at the residence of its leader, Savi Liegise in the wee hours of March 15. A condemnation note issued by CGBU president, Thepfukedo Kuotsu stated that Savi Liegise is a well known public leader and a tall figure held in great esteem by the people not only in Dimapur district but also in all Tenyimia areas as a social worker and a politician.
CGBU stated that the act of the armed forces in raiding the residence of such a public leader for the second time under whimsical pretext and causing mental trauma to his family members was not only uncalled for, but was also an insult to the people of Nagaland particularly the Tenyimia community.
CGBU also suspected the hands of some unscrupulous persons with political grudges and malicious intentions to tarnish the image of Savi Liegise and to finish off his career. The union warned such person(s) to desist from such activities which were detrimental to the Naga society.
