Saku Ao passes away

Saku Ao, a prominent citizen and one of the pioneers of Dimapur from the Ao community, passed away on March 25, 2018 at Eden Hospital Dimapur after a brief illness. He was 94. 

According to family members, Saku’s funeral service will be held at his residence in Khermahal on March 27 at 9 a.m. and later at 11 a.m. at DABA Town Fellowship. He will be laid to rest at family cemetery in his estate at Khermahal, Dimapur.
He is survived by his wife, one son, seven daughters, one daughter-in law, six sons-in-law, 31 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.  
Hailing from Aonokpu (Nokpuyimchen) village in Mokokchung district, Saku was one of the pioneers in the field of business from the community and was into timber operations. He took active part in various civil society organisations. He was also one of those few initial members of the Ao Baptist Church in Dimapur. He later served the church as a pastor on two different occasions.  
As a notable business man in Dimapur, Saku was quite popular among the non-Naga communities who would refer to him as Saku Babu and later over the years as Saku Baba.
