
Water & Sanitation (WATSAN) organised a cleanliness awareness programme along with National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation at Luhevi village on March 23.
While presiding over the programme, Rtd. District and session judge, Dr. L K Achumi, who is also the head GB of the village, stated that one of the basic needs to lead a healthy life was clean drinking water and proper sanitation.
He stated that drinking clean water ensured a healthier life, thereby stressing on the need of maintaining proper water storage, reservoirs, pipelines and ensuring that the village is always clean and sanitary, while also making sure that proper toilets are maintained.
The head GB also explained that good sanitation was vital for preventing various sickness and diseases which arise due to unhealthy environments and encouraged the public to clean the village and its surroundings to keep it neat and clean as it had been declared the clean village and a no tobacco zone on October 24.
Chairman WATSAN, Nitozu Zhimo delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated all the participants, especially Dr LK Achumi for providing ‘pucca’ toilets at every household.
