Assam Rifles assist NESA; conduct activities

Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR-N) on May 5 extended assistance to Nagaland Ex-Servicemen Association (NESA) in a brief ceremony at Dimapur.
A press release by Assam Rifles stated that materials were handed over to the association in the presence of DIG, 6 Sector Assam Rifles, Brig Shibaji Das and president NESA, Col S Rengma (Retd). 
Speaking on the occasion, Brig Shibaji emphasized that the army and the Assam Rifles were committed to the welfare and well being of the ex-servicemen and assured of all possible assistance and support for veterans and their families in all their future endeavours.
‘Say no to drugs 
and HIV and AIDS’
 Assam Rifles Chieswema battalion organised an awareness programme under the theme “Say No to Drugs and HIV and AIDS” at Government Middle School (GMS), Zeizou under Chiephobozou sub–division on May 7. 
According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), during the programme, a lecture was delivered by the medical staff on ill effects of drugs and stressed on the need to create awareness among the school children and teachers. GMS Zeizou principal, Lusineo also exhorted the school children to guard against the risk of drug abuse.
The lecture was followed by distribution of sweets and writing materials to all the students and teachers of the school. A total of 37 children and five teaching staff attended the programme.
Career guidance 
at DBHSS, Kohima 
3 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a career guidance programme for the class 12 (Arts and Science) students of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, (DBHSS) Kohima on May 7.
A press release from DBHSS Kohima stated that AR educated the students on the vast range of possibilities available in the armed forces after passing class 12 and also on the vacancies available in the Indian Army and Assam Rifles for individuals, both male and female, in the rank of officer cadres.
Captain, Parth Dhaka and captain, Deepika Badhwar informed the students not only of the procedures to join as commissioned officers and serve the country but also on insights about facilities provided, pay and other allowances. Vidisenuo Belho of class 12 Arts presented a special number for the visiting officers.
On being asked to share their opinion on joining the armed forces, most of the students were optimistic in their approach and were upbeat of the possibilities offered and also highly inspired by the visiting officers and said they would definitely like to keep their options open after class 12.
