15 NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion workshop

A workshop to address “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace & Violence against Women and Children” with special reference to SAKHI-One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL) 181 and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was held at the Mahila Battalion Camp, Chumukedima on May 11. A press release from SRCW Nagaland said that the workshop was jointly organized by the 15 NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion and State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW). 

Joy Thusi Fithu, deputy commandant 15th NAP IR (2IC), while giving the introductory note, highlighted the significance of empowering the Mahila Battalion by equipping them with knowledge on legal rights. 
The resource persons from SRCW, OSC & WHL conducted intensive sessions on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013”, legal rights of women and children and psychosocial support. They further elaborated on the services of the Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) and Women Helpline 181 and schemes initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI. 
T. Aboli Metha, commandant, 15 NAP (IR), exhorted the battalion to be vigilant as ambassadors for the message and connect victims to the service providers (OSC & 181) if they witness any forms of violence. She stressed that “Knowledge is Power” and welcomed the organizers to conduct similar workshops with new trainees in the future as well. 

Over 300 personnel attended the session. The program was moderated by the state coordinator, SRCW.p
