
As part of the observation of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada from May 16-30, a directive of Ministry of power, Government of India, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) Dimapur sub-station organised drawing, essay and slogan competitions for students of Dimapur Railway High School (DRHS), Marwari Patti, under the theme, “Lets join our hands towards cleaner greener India” on Wednesday.
During the programme, Power Grid Dimapur, assistant engineer, Abhisekh Sonar gave a talk on “Cleaner and Greener India”. Junior officer, H. Bhattacharjee also spoke about the importance of personal hygiene. Junior engineer, Dziesekhono Nakhro added few points on how government school children were neglected. He said that the event was conducted to encourage and support these children. Assistant engineer, Abhijnan Hazarika, in his speech, opined that the desire for a “Swachh Bharat” should come from within each and every Indian and not just as an outward manifestation of an obligation. DRHS headmaster, Anil Chandra Barman lauded the organisers for the programme and was encouraging of more such events in the near future.
Power Grid Dimapur sub-station also donated two waste-bins to the school in the presence of its headmaster, teachers and officials, which was followed by the prize distribution. The painting competition was organised for classes 1 to 5, essay competition from classes 9 and 10, while slogan competition was for classes 6 to 8. The first prize for the painting competition was bagged by Simu Kumari, second prize by Laxmi Basfure while the third position was bagged by Navidita Kumari. In the essay competition, the first prize was bagged by Mosumi Majumder, second prize by Piyasa Sarkar while the third prize was bagged by Rqahul Debnath. For the slogan competition, the first prize was bagged by Tanushree Debnath, second prize by Divya Gupta while the third prize was bagged by Preety Kumari.
