Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio has expressed pain over the demise of Kevimedo Rutsa, former vice president of the Angami Public Organization (APO) and former Kohima Village Council chairman.
In his condolence message, Rio recalled that late uncle Kevimedo Rutsa was a ‘Rüna Peyu’ in the NNC during the 1950s and was imprisoned for the Naga cause.
He also served as area council member of the Northern Angami and a life member of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Nagaland.
Rio said he had the privilege of working closely with late Kevimedo when he (Rio) was the chairman of the Northern Angami area council while he was a member representing Kohima village. Rio described him as an upright and dedicated leader, always concerned for the welfare of the people.
Besides his noteworthy social activities, Rio said late Kevimdeo was also a good friend of his late father and thereby a fatherly-figure to him and his family. “I have always held him in high esteem. He was a blessing to all of us and we will miss him greatly,” he added.
Rio and his family extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and expressed his regret for not being able to attend the funeral, as he was currently out of the State. He further prayed that the Almighty God grant solace to the family to come to terms with this devastating loss.
