
A district level workshop on Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) was organized by NABARD at NEN Resource Centre, Chizami, Phek on August 11.
At the workshop, Imsunaro, DDM, NABARD gave a detailed presentation on the scheme. The scheme was launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India in collaboration with NABARD. It is a credit linked subsidy scheme with the objective of generating self employment, provide infrastructure for dairy sector through setting up of modern dairy farms for clean milk production.
The scheme also aims to bring about structural changes in the unorganized sector so that processing of milk can be taken up at the village level.
Imsunaro also deliberated on the eligible beneficiaries, pattern of assistance and various components that can be financed under the scheme.
Also speaking at the workshop, Dr.Rokozo, Dy. CVO, Phek emphasized on the requirements of a dairy farm.
The workshop was also attended by branch managers of SBI and NStCB, veterinary assistant surgeons, NGOs and dairy farmers.
