An ‘UPCHAR Nagaland Telemedicine Center’, under the aegis of ‘Upchar Seva’ (Affordable Healthcare made Accessible), in partnership with Sakaar Seva Samiti, was launched on Friday, at the Yimlang Salang, Ungma village.
While delivering her speech, Ojungsangla, who is from a healthcare NGO based in Patna, described the root purpose of the UPCHAR seva as being to reach the unreached in the remotest corners of the Nation with the sole aim to deliver affordable healthcare at their doorsteps with the aid of technology.
She said that UPCHAR was being launched to provide wellness centres in remote areas, offering diagnostic & referral services to the patients, communicating system for OPD and DATA sharing with health expertise. Ojungsangla said that the UPCHAR (UTS), in association with the clients, plan to identify PHCs for telemedicine setups on the basis of internet connectivity and patient loads. She added that UTS would find, train and support local entrepreneurs to help the telemedicine centres at the PHCs. Moreover, she said that the consultancy provided is cost free, saving time and money of poor patients and affected families.
The key note address was delivered by Sakaar Seva Samiti, president Temsutula Imsong and the invocation was said by Rev. Dr. Noklem Longkumer. Short speeches were delivered by Ungma Council chairman Alemtoshi, Rev. Dr. Noklem Longkumer and Dr. Aonungdok.
