Opposing redeployment policy of teachers in the middle of academic year, Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has appealed to Department Of School Education (DoSE) to retain the post-graduate teachers of Mon district, which had been affected by the recent policy. KSU president Bumang Phaiba and education secretary Abo Wangsu, in a release, expressed resentment over introduction of the redeployment policy in the middle of academic session, claiming it had adversely affected and victimised the student community of Mon district. KSU alleged that many teachers had been transferred without replacement in the district.
The student body pointed out that, following introduction of the policy by DoSE, many educational institutions in Mon were now facing shortage of subject teachers as there had been no replacement from other districts following shunting out of the existing teachers.
The union appealed to the department concerned to exclude Mon district from the redeployment policy till new replacements were immediately made.
Stating that redeploying or transferring teachers outside the districts was against the interest of students, KSU urged DoSE to withhold the police and retain existing teachers. It also warned of not allowing such policy to be carried out in Mon district.
