Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) has highlighted the pathetic condition of the students of Government High School (GHS) Chessore, which it said was due to shortage of teachers.

A press release from CAPF president, Kiumukam and vice president, C Throngso stated that GHS Chessore, the educational hub of the area, has been without Maths and Science teachers for the past three years putting the students’ careers at stake. It said that for this reason the Yimchungru Akheru Arih-Ako (YAA), apex students’ body and the CAPF had appraised the authority about this through a representation and the media since 2016. However, till this date, no “rational gestures” have been implemented. The lackadaisical attitude of the authorities has resulted in negative outcomes for the unprivileged and aspirant students with poor results for consecutive years, the Forum lamented.

CAPF alleged that this was denial of the students’ rights to education, and quality education at that, which CAPF said could be interpreted to mean an underestimation of the competency of the rural students.

Taking into cognizance the pitiable condition of students, CAPF called for immediate intervention of the department to redress their grievances. It warned that failing to comply with the Forum’s demands would compel it to take up drastic steps for the welfare of the students.
